Updates

Updates are enhancements to an existing release of STOPzilla that make it ever more effective against Spyware.

STOPzilla is updated almost daily, incorporating the latest target definitions to kill new Spyware and other malicious programs as they emerge. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you set STOPzilla to download and install definition updates automatically.

You can update STOPzilla manually, at any time, or automatically, according to how you set up your preferences in the Scheduler. For details on how to configure automatic updates, please see: Scheduler.

For troubleshooting, you can get updates in Safe Mode. Please see: Starting Your Computer in Safe Mode

 Checking for Updates Manually

To check for updates at any time:

  1. Double-click the SZ system tray icon in the lower right corner of your screen. By default, STOPzilla opens to HOME.

  2. In the lower right corner of the HOME console, click Check for Updates. If there are updates or upgrades available, you will be prompted to download them now. If there are no updates or upgrades available, STOPzilla will display a dialog indicating that your system has the latest updates.

  3. Once the software has been updated, STOPzilla displays an alert indicating that all updates have been downloaded and applied.
