Home

STOPzilla Home serves as a convenient "console" from which you can access all major  settings, features and tools. By default, Home is displayed when you open STOPzilla.

To open STOPzilla:

  1. If you have installed STOPzilla correctly, the SZ STOPzilla system tray icon is displayed in the lower right corner of your task bar, at the bottom of your screen next to the system clock.

  1. Double-click the SZ system tray icon. The Home console will be displayed.

  1. After viewing Home, click OK to keep all existing settings. If you make changes to existing settings, click APPLY. To undo any changes you have made to settings, click CANCEL.

HOME Features

Navigation Bar

The navigation bar is a vertical row of buttons displayed on the left side of all STOPzilla windows. Navigation buttons present STOPzilla's features logically and enable you to access any feature or setting with one click of your mouse. The navigation buttons are HOME, SCAN FOR SPYWARE, REAL-TIME PROTECTION, POP-UP PROTECTION, SITEGUARD™, SCHEDULER, TOOLS, and REGISTER (appears only if STOPzilla is unregistered). When you click a navigation button to open a section, the button corresponding to the open section is highlighted.

START SCAN NOW

Click START SCAN NOW to begin scanning your computer for Spyware. STOPzilla lets you choose parameters for the kind of scan you wish to perform. Unless you select otherwise, STOPzilla will start a scan with the parameters last used. If you have never performed a scan of your computer with STOPzilla, the scan will start with the default FullScan. Please see: Types of Scans.

Basic Options

The Basic Options group box contains settings to enable/disable Spyware Protection, Pop-Up Protection and SITEguard™ . Basic Options are all pre-set to ON. You can leave these defaults or change them. For your protection, it is strongly recommended that you leave these settings ON.

Quick Tools

Command buttons in the Quick Tools group box enable you to remove records of your Internet use, thus "cover your tracks." Quick tools is a privacy feature. The sites you visit are your business.

Click Erase Cookies to remove all Internet cookies currently residing on your system. If you click this button, the system displays a dialog prompting you to confirm that you wish to erase all cookies. You can also click View to see a list of cookies stored in your system. A cookie file is information that a Web site puts on your hard disk so that it can remember something about you at a later time.

Click Clear History to erase your Internet Surfing History (URLs). Your history is a record of all Internet sites that you have visited.

Quick Settings

Quick Settings enable you to configure some general options for STOPzilla. Select (check) or clear (uncheck) the boxes in the Quick Settings group box to indicate how you want STOPzilla to behave. Any configuration changes you make will take effect when you click APPLY at the bottom of this dialog.

By default, all of these settings are enabled (selected.) To disable a setting, click on a check box to clear (uncheck) it. For your safety and security, It is recommended that you leave the default settings  Display SZ icon in System Tray and Automatically download updates. The other Quick Settings are a matter of your personal preference.

System Status

The System Status group box displays read-only information about the STOPzilla product version you are running on you computer.

Scanning is one of many methods STOPzilla uses to detect Spyware from the moment you turn your computer on. It is recommended that you perform a Full Scan weekly and whenever STOPzilla's True-Real Time™ protection detects an infection. This is a precaution to ensure that all traces of the infection are completely removed..

Check for Updates

You can set STOPzilla to check for updates automatically in Quick Settings, or you can check manually. Click Check for Updates. STOPzilla will determine if you are running the latest updates. If not, the system will prompt you to download the newest enhancements. Updates are free to STOPzilla subscribers. Please see: Updates.
